Qingdao, Shandong, China: Week 2

Some sightseeing photos from my second week in Qingdao.

Qingdao bay.
Zhanqiao Pier, a 440 meter long pier built in 1891 on Qingdao Bay, with Huilan Pavillion at its end. It was a very windy and chilly day.

Chinese sub and navy boats close to Xiao Qingdao (Little Qingdao).

Little Qingdao Lighthouse, built by the Germans in 1900.

Little Qindao Island in the background with fishing boats.

Violinist performing in front of a mall on Xianggang Zhong Lu (Lu = street).

The Prince Hotel - early 20th Century building from the German Concession era of Qingdao.

Laundry...

Another European style building from the early 1900s. Qingdao has got some very nice examples of German architecture. The Germans had taken over the town from the Chinese in 1898.

Famous for its Tsingtao beer sold worldwide, Qingdao has its Beer Street, where the Tsingtao Brewery is located. It was established in 1903 by the Germans.

Beer bottle statue with the brewery on the left.

Drying starfish...

Anyone care for some sea worms? Yuck...

Strawberries,

eggs,

and fresh fish, all being sold on the sidewalks of Qingdao.

Samoyed... and a few more.
And a little doggie,

another magpie,

and a cat watching me.
