Jakarta visit, one year later

The last time I had been in downtown Jakarta was in March 2008. This time again, nothing had changed. Jakarta was still the big crowded, overpolluted city, with its dirty and smelly streets, but full of nice, smiling people. I was asked to take their pictures on several occasions. I guess Bules, or white people as they are called in Indonesia, always attract attention. The following three pictures are some of the people who wanted their photos taken.

Some other common scenes that can be seen throughout Jakarta. These ones were mainly taken in the old city, or Kota.

Barber shop mirror (Pangkas = cut, rambut = hair)

Gereja Sion, the oldest remaining church in Jakarta, dating from 1695.

Busy street.
Busier and more polluted...

Train Station.
