Indonesia: Tangerang, Jalan Jaksa and Thamrin

Hi again,

Tangerang is the name of the city where I'm working during my stay in Indonesia. It's located west of Jakarta. Goats roam freely on the streets until they end up as someone's supper :(

The bug on the wall is called a kissing bug (Triatoma sp.) because it could inflict a painful bite - actually, it doesn't bite, it sucks blood. This species is know to cause Chagas disease in South and Central America. Not in Indonesia though. Phew! I found it on the wall of one the worksite buildings.

I visited Jalan Jaksa, a short street well known by backpackers. There are many cafés and watering holes. It is centrally located in downtown Jakarta. Not far from it is Thamrin boulevard, the City's main artery. The flag in front of the courthouse is half-mast. It was the day ex-president Soeharto passed away.
