Ram being grazed at the foot of the Monument.

This ram will surely be slaughtered during Eid-el-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice, a religious festival celebrated by Muslims, and falling in December this year.

Pine trees.

The Martyrs Monument, overlooking Algiers, was erected in 1982 to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the National Independence Day (July 5th, 1962) and in rememberance of the victims of the war of Liberation to free Algeria from French Rule.
It is surrounded by nice vegetation and pine trees and is a great lookout over Algiers, its port and the Meditaerranean sea. Right below the monument is a museum dedicated to the freedom fighters or
Mudjahid.
