Everyday extreme traffic is commonplace in Algiers. Most drivers venture onto the shoulders, cut you off and even give you the occasional bump. Nothing surprising here. Also, the air is quite polluted - enough to irritate your eyes and throat.
Elegant umbrella or stone pine (Pinus pinea) trees at Club des Pins, west of Algiers. My favourite trees from when I was a kid growing up in the Middle East.
